About the Author
Ed Org worked as a graphic designer and illustrator until he chose to develop his own personal art depicting the world of mythology and faerie. He exhibits at many art and craft shows, and recently exhibited at the Works On Paper exhibition at the Royal Academy.

Love this artist and his fabulous book!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I just started taking drawing classes a couple of years ago and I am still learning life drawing so I consider myself still "sort of" a beginner. I was looking for a fantasy art book that wasn't too cutsy or complicated. This book was perfect it gives some very good how to tips and lots of examples. Included throughout the book are beautiful pictures that remind me of Arthur Rackham's art; the author admits his influence by Rackham and others and discusses other books to look at for inspiration and ideas. In Mr. Org's book there are numerous fantastic color and black and white photos on every page. I like that Mr. Org includes personally written information with many of the pictures describing his inspiration or influence for the drawing. He also includes super tips and advice about developing a photo and reference library and gives details of his own. He even includes a few pages, (which I thought weird at first) of models wearing fairy garb, jewelry and crowns. But he explains how he uses photographs of models and how they can help "fire your imagination and create a sense of realism." The photos are tastefully done and he includes his art next to the photos. And, I will mention that all the photos are tasteful, beautiful drawings of female figures without adding the breast implant look that many male artists seem to include. (I'm not against sexy but can we keep is semi realistic looking guys?). This book is suitable for all ages and would be a good book to give as a gift to young girls who draw and are interested in this subject. Most of the drawings in this book are femaie figures but there are a few fantastic drawings of knight/king arthur sorts on horses, detailed drawings and a how to draw armour section. I must also mention one particularly cool drawing that the artist says was influenced by the Lord of the Rings and the artist's father's experience fighting in Russia during WWII. How fantastic is that!!
I've been looking for a book like this for awhile. I'm glad I bought Mr. Org's book and highly recommend it. I would urge these publishers to publish an art book of just Mr. Org's photos. I've found more of Mr. Org's art online and wish I could see more. I hope he releases another book soon, I will buy it immediately.

I love this book

If you're looking for a "how-to-draw' book, this isn't it. If you DO draw, even at a level far less than Ed Org, this book is definitely for you if you're into drawing fantasy.
The book is at its best when it challenges the reader to pick up one of the portions of a single illustration and then lets your mind go to work concerning how that challenge may apply to you. Org doesn't say "do this" or "do that"; he shows you some basic techniques and then presents you with lots of illustrations that are incredibly intricate and detailed, and which will work on your mind day after day after day..
Org's particular kind of intricacy is what enthralls me. It's challenged me to start drawing in a way I've never even thought about drawing before, and, once challenged, I've discovered that I may not draw like Ed Org [who is certainly a master of the craft], but I'm drawing better that I ever have before, I'm drawing from my own imagination without relying on a "how-to-draw-this" book, I'm drawing in ways I would ever think to draw in the first place, and I'm exploring working in different mediums in combination with pencils and graphite.
So if you're up for a challenge and ready to go jump into the unknown, buy this book, read it a few times,look at the illustrations over and over again, and then let all of that information go to work in your mind. If you're at all like me, you'll discover that you're capable of far, far better drawings than you've ever done before, and you're trusting your imagination to decide what you're going to draw, rather than drawing flower #12 on page 57.
Org has given us a wonderful product, which will work its magic on you if you just allow that to happen. Buy it, whether you're interested in fairies or not.

Wonderful

Absolutely enchanting book, with lots of tips and tricks and advice on how to use watercolours, as well as pencils, conté and pen and ink. It has vastly improved my art, and given me some ideas that I maybe would not have thought of before hand. I particularly liked the use of life models in costume with props to base the fantasy artwork in reality.
I don't really recommend it for absolute beginners, because I feel it is aimed more at slightly more advanced artists and it lacks the groundwork necessary for novices.
